Mount St. Mary’s own Jenna West and Jasmine McCree both received NEC’s honors after their performances last week for the Mount’s soccer team.
Jenna West was awarded NEC Player of the Week after scoring four goals in just two matches. In total she tallied up 9 points in those two games, including a career high 5 points in the win over Howard University. To be named player of the week, West said, “It was really cool. I think I had such a successful week by putting myself in the best positions to help my teammates and with their help I was able to do my job and execute when I needed to.”
Jasmine McCree, a first-year student, was awarded NEC Rookie of the Week after tallying up three assists in just two games. “Being named Rookie of the Week gives me a bigger push to keep doing what I love and to continue to get better,” she said. “Being at the Mount has taught me a lot already and one of the biggest things is that you find success through the whole team not just yourself.”
The team is back in action Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. as they take on Radford at Waldron Family Stadium.
