Welcome back Mount students! My name is Michael Nachtrab and, for those of you who I have not had the pleasure of meeting, I am your 2016-2017 Student Government Executive Board President. This last semester our student government voted to make substantive structural changes. In an effort to be transparent with our process and alert the student body of changes they can anticipate from student government, we would like to share what is going on in SGA with all of you reading the Echo.
As the spring semester begins, our new focus will be on solidifying our constitution and bylaws needed with a new structure. We will be taking this semester to reorganize, with the end goal of voting on a reformed constitution this spring. The goal of doing this is to provide a greater Mount experience for you as well as enhance our democratic process within our own student governance structure.
We acknowledge that you may be apprehensive of this change, but I can assure you that this will only further increase the value of your voice across campus.
We would like to invite all of you to join our conversations every Tuesday at 9 p.m. in Laughlin Auditorium. Do not hesitate to email me if you have any questions or suggestions. I’d be happy to talk more and hear any suggestions or concerns that you have, as we are here to serve you.
