Mount St Mary’s University’s Student Veterans Association (SVA) is hosting a workshop event Saturday, May 7, from 12 – 4 p.m. at the university’s Frederick Campus for anyone interested in or associated with veterans from both the Mount and local communities.
The workshop will provide the opportunity for veterans, their families and other individuals interested in supporting veterans, to network and pose questions to representatives from locally and nationally affiliated agencies, including the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The SVA is looking for any Mount students or faculty members that would be willing to volunteer to help set up, staff and facilitate the event. If individuals have any questions about the event, volunteering or joining the association, they can contact on campus officials including the Faculty Advisor, Dr. Timothy Wolfe, Secretary, Elizabeth “Libby” Jackson or the association in general via its email, email@example.com.
The Mount SVA is an official chapter of the Student Veterans of America. The SVA meets approximately once a month to discuss any and all issues regarding veterans’ affairs welcoming members that are both veterans and non-veterans.
Grounded in its values of respect, integrity, perseverance and teamwork, the Student Veterans Association is a campus organization dedicated to supporting people who have served our great nation. The organization aims to build a network that will better enable veterans to access the Mount and local community services. The SVA seeks to promote an environment that fosters leadership, encourages teamwork and cultivates support, and desires to develop an interactive community committed to these goals.
