Women’s Basketball Drops Season Opener to Maryland

Hey there Mount fans, and we’re back with another recap of Mount St. Mary’s athletics. This week, we will be taking a look at the women’s basketball season opener against Maryland. While this game was televised on the Big Ten Plus Network, the lady Mountaineers did not fair well against Maryland, as the Terps prevailed 109-45.

While the deficit is a large one, the Mount had some positive points to their game. Sophomore Kaitlyn Eisenhard played strong down low, grabbing a career high 10 rebounds. Senior Jacqueline Brewer also played well, contributing 12 points to the lady Mountaineers scoring board.
“Its a really humbling experience”, Junior Sarafina Arthur Williams stated,

“It’s past us now, and we learned from it. Our team chemistry is really good, and we are all excited for what this season holds for us.”
While the University of Maryland got the best of the Mount this time, the team seems to be looking forward at the rest of their season. For women’s basketball, there are almost 30 more garnered games to look forward to. With that being said, next up on the schedule is a stop in the Bronx, where the ladies will be taking on Fordham University. The game is scheduled for November 18th and the game is set to start at 7pm.
