Women’s Soccer vs. Bryant and Robert Morris

Hey Mount fans, and welcome to another installment of the Mount sports recap.

Today, I will be reviewing the women’s soccer teams matches against Bryant University

and Robert Morris University last weekend. Over the course of the past two games, the

team has won and lost one game. This win gives the lady Mountaineers their first in-

conference win, putting their in-conference schedule at 1-3.

Against Bryant, the Mount squeaked by in a nail-biter of a game. In the first half,

both teams were held scoreless. It wasn’t until the 63rd minute that senior forward Alicia

Mirando buried a ball in the back of the net. After a Bryant comeback, the game was

level at one a piece going into overtime. With a great cross from senior Paige Peck,

Mirando was able to control the ball and fire it past the Bryant goalkeeper for the win.

On the defensive end, both goalkeepers had a great game, with Rachel Bourne

grabbing two saves and Vicky Cocozza holding three shots back.

Moving on to the Robert Morris game, the lady Mountaineers had some trouble.

Scoring the lone goal in the game was freshman forward Jordan Fine, in the 12th

minute. From there on out, the Colonials were able to handle the Mount, giving us a 5-1

loss. “This game was unfortunate for us, but we still have three games that can boost us

into the playoffs. We just have to look forward” says junior midfielder Emma Blair. Next

up on the Mount’s schedule is an away game at Saint Francis University on October

24th. The match is set to start at 3pm.
