Before most of the Mount St. Mary’s University student body moved in, the Mount’s women’s soccer team was busy at school getting ready for their 2014 season. They opened up their 2014 season on the road on August 22 against George Washington University. The season did not get off to quite the start the team would have wanted as they dropped the match 6-0. The colonials scored three goals in each half to take the win. Freshmen Jordan Fine paced the Mount attack with a pair of shots in her collegiate debut. For the Colonials, six different players scored on the night. In the net for the Mount, junior Vicky Cocozza registered four first-half saves before fellow junior Rachel Bourne took over in the second-half and finished with a pair of saves. The Mount was able to put four of their five shots on goal but could never quite find the back of the net. George Washington took 27 shots with 12 of them on goal. Up next for the Mount is another road match against Temple on Sunday, August 24.
